POLICIES OF NEW YORK CITY ADVENTURE CYCLING CLUB LTD.

New York City Adventure Cycling Club is a community for those interested in recreational adventure cycling such as bicycle touring, bikepacking, and bike camping. It was formed by its members and is run by member volunteers. Membership is open to all individuals aged 18 or older without regard to race, creed, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, physical ability, or religion.

As a cycling club we welcome all to join who share our interests in getting out doors, riding bikes, and creating a community. To ensure our community, the Club follows the policies stated below.

Keep it Legal

Always prioritize safety and legality. Ride responsibly and follow all traffic laws, local regulations, and campground policies. Do not engage in activities that endanger yourself or others, including reckless cycling or illegal conduct.

Be Prepared to be Self-Sufficient: Bike and Gear

Members are expected to ensure their bike is in good working order before rides and carry essential tools, gear, and provisions to remain self-sufficient during all Club activities.

Navigation

Ensure you have a reliable means of navigation, such as a GPS device, navigation app, or printed map, and understand how to use it effectively. Follow the route.

Helmet

Wearing a properly fitted helmet at all times while riding is highly recommended.

Environmental Stewardship

Respect all natural spaces by adhering to 'pack-in, pack-out' principles. Clean up after yourself and avoid disturbing wildlife or damaging the environment. Minimize noise pollution, particularly in shared or wilderness spaces.

Respect

Foster a culture of respect and safety. Treat everyone, Club members, organizers, the public, and other park or road users, with kindness and consideration. Always seek consent when offering assistance, handling others' gear, or taking photos.

Inclusivity

Cultivate a welcoming and inclusive environment for members of all backgrounds and identities. Be intentional about creating space for and supporting members from marginalized groups, including women, Black, Indigenous, people of color, and LGBTQIA+ individuals.

Avoid making assumptions about a person’s gender, race, ethnicity, abilities, skill level, or knowledge. Instead, engage with fellow members respectfully and take the time to learn about them as individuals when appropriate.

Recognize that members bring diverse experiences, financial circumstances, and opportunities to the Club. Refrain from criticizing or shaming others for their bike, gear, skills, or level of experience.

Prohibited Behavior

Harmful behaviors, including harassment, hate speech, discrimination, or predatory actions, are strictly prohibited. Do not reveal others' personal or confidential information. Avoid making disparaging or defamatory remarks about the Club, its members, or its events. Do not post spam. Do not post duplicate content; please only post information once. Refrain from posting content that directly conflicts with or distracts from ADV, ie promoting competing services, self-promotion or using company logos as profile photos.

Event Participation Policy

RSVP for events in advance and notify organizers if plans change. Must sign a liability waiver prior to riding. Adhere to route & group riding etiquette.

Enforcement

Failure to comply with Club policies may result in disciplinary action determined by the Board. Enforcement measures may include:

A verbal or written warning.

Not allowed to attend event(s).

Permanent suspension of membership.
